As an Associate of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor,
we share in a community of love; living the Gospel in the Franciscan spirit by being drawn to a life focused on
God through prayer and collaboration with one another.
Some Associates serve directly with the Sisters in ministry, while others carry our healing charism into our wounded world in a variety of ways, as the Spirit directs them.
We are mutually blessed to live the mission to heal the wounds of Christ through love and service to our poorest sisters and brothers in need. The healing charism of Blessed Frances Schervier, Founder of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor, forms the heart of what it means to be in relationship with the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor
and other Associates.

Associates are lay Christian; women and men, young and retired, married and single, who experience a personal call by God and choose to share in the mission and healing charism of the Franciscan Sisters of the Poor.
We continue to live and grow within our own particular lay lifestyle. Associates share friendships, faith, payer and ministry projects with the Sisters and other Associates.

Our Associates in the US Area have the opportunity to find the best way to integrate our mission of healing in service to the poor through ministry.
In the Midwest, Associates can volunteer at the Franciscan Peddler Thrift Shop and with the Prayer Shawl Ministry in Cincinnati, OH. While other Associates carry out ministry to the poor by participating in social, pastoral and parish outreach programs.
In the Northeast, Associates in Warwick, NY volunteer in hospitals, nursing homes, and food pantries.
In Brooklyn, NY Associates and Sisters volunteer together at soup kitchens and shelters for homeless mothers and babies. In New York our spirit of healing and care is shared with family and at work.
